School is almost over, once again. This year, in many countries though, it will be different: children and teenagers will not exit their classroom on their last day, all together, relieved after their yearly effort holding their backpacks full of books and materials to take home. For many kids, it will simply mean turning off their computers once and for all.

Even so, because we are naturally inclined towards positivity and hope, we want to get ready for a proper new school year in August (or September, depending on the country). And so, we, as parents, will soon begin to visit shops to provide our children with all the materials they will need to happily begin again: stationery, folders, ring binders, paper, notebooks, and backpacks for school, of course, which are maybe the most important items among all. Important in the way that they need some extra care when being bought.

Backpacks for school (but this is true for backpacks in general) must be well built. It is a duty of us parents to ensure that we buy a product that we can trust will cause no harm to our kids. Therefore, we should check for quality of materials, design and durability. This means that the backpack we are going to buy should have ergonomic, padded and adjustable shoulder straps so that our child does not suffer while carrying his bag. It also implies that it should be waterproof and scratch resistant in order to protect your child’s belongings, and it should last long. It basically means considering investing some money on it, because you want your son or daughter to be safe (and not develop back problems) and because you want the bag to last over the years.

If you have young children, it is advisable to buy backpacks for schools that have wheels. These are a sort of suitcase, a trolley with a long handle that the child can easily pull around, releasing him or her from the weight on their shoulder and back. They are a very good idea, in my opinion, and they consent children to have bigger backpacks, in case the school requires that a large number of books are moved on a daily basis to and from home. These backpacks for school are also interesting because they have many pockets and departments that allow for a better organisation of the materials. Plus their bottom is strong enough so that it can resist far more than a normal bag.
